Where have you been?

Is it just me or does the quick shade stay sticky FOREVER! Even after removing most of it it stays forever tacky. I’ll wait 3-4 days and it will stay sticky. I then while it’s sticky do my lighter touch ups for high lights on outer edges. I then wait for anther day then spray varnish all over it so it drips off bottom. If I do it too early pain runs.

This stuff is magic! But I find it stays always tacky sticky

This video was posted a long time ago, but is still applicable to m. Very good video! My question is, is the Quickshade same as an oil wash, without the clean-up of reming the oils in places you need? Seems the same to me, but still really nice finish!

Hey there! Well i applied as you did follow all the steps(paint is full dry with a wait of 48 hours, well shaked army painter wash , no super pools over my mini but!!! I dont know why the was cracks :(… can you help me please??

When I first used quick shade I dipped it and wasn't convinced it would look like it showed in the booklet but it did after I removed the excess. Your painting method is a much better way to quick shade and I now use it.

Colours look a lot more vibrant at the end.

Awesome tutorial. I love that you used painted minis to show how it works. Soooo many tutorials use primed minis and you really can't tell what it will do. Kudos.

You have far more patience than I do. I would have given the cloak a base coat of a mustardy brownish yellowish color, slap a brown wash over it, MAYBE go back and highlight the raised areas and call it a day lol. Great job as usual 👍

Hey MissFlame, I realize this video is 4 years old and I'm just stumbling upon it now but I want to give you a BIG 👍for your paint job. You have amazing talent. I recently purchased the Black Plague expansion box Wulfsburg and have just completed painting all of the wolves (mostly contrast paints and dry brushing) and am about to start on the hero's. I plan on using non contrast paints on those and If I can achieve half the level of results you have achieved on your hero's I will be very pleased with myself. Stay safe and take care.

Nicely done. I would add a flat clear coat to finish the mini off. Lots of play and handling will wear your paint off without a clear coat.

Mine are sticky after using the quick shade. Is there a workaround to this? A wash feels easier to use tbh. I'm probably just doing it wrong though.

Years later I still watch your videos.. It is a shame that you don't make any new ones!

Its nice but in the end its just an enamel wash. Its an Unneeded expensive product. Most people that paint already have some sort of wash. Im not knocking the product but its cheaper to just make your own wash from whatever color you want

I cannot get this crap to work for me at all what-so-ever. I got the 250ml can to dip and the first mini I dipped was ruined. Too thick. I added thinner to it and still, ruined mini after ruined mini. I then added more thinner and brushed it on...... ruined. This stuff does NOT work as advertised. Adding thinner only made this crap work worse. It doesnt flick off after the dip and it doesnt settle into crack over a 30 second period (it dries up too fast) then it wont soak up in to the dry brush from the pooled areas. This stuff sucks!!!!!! Never again.

They look great..... but where is the blood! 🩸🩸🩸There needs to huge amounts of blood! 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸 We’re talking buckets of blood! 😜😜😜😜😜 (just having fun!). Great tutorial, this stuff is amazing!

You also have to go pretty quick! It “sets” very quick, so if you need to remove some don’t wait!

EDIT: rewatched and figured it out =P This is a nice technique! Original post: Did you have to prime / undercoat the miniature before the using the shade? You may have said so, I might have missed it

pro tip: you can pre-dilute your shade on a pallet with some water so you don't have to go over the miniature a second time with water.

This was fun to watch! After years of applying multiple layers of highlights and taking forever to finish each mini, I’ve gone the single highlight route using base colors and haven’t looked back. I’m getting minis done in about 25% of the time, and at my skill level, from tabletop distance the quality difference is negligible. The important thing is to get them done and get playing!
